Cancer Cachexia: No Time to Waste

The CANCAN Advocacy panel conducted a three-part interview series called “Cancer Cachexia: No Time to Waste” with the team’s lead investigators. Together, these videos explain the basics of cachexia, describe the team’s research efforts and detail current clinical studies underway.

Part One: “Understanding Cachexia”

Dr. Amy Moore, lead advocate, and CANCAN’s principal investigator, Dr. Eileen White, discuss the basics of cancer cachexia. This information can help patients, caregivers and healthcare providers who may be struggling with cachexia or want to learn more.

Part Two: “Risk Factors and the Body’s Response to Cachexia”

Dr. Amy Moore talks with CANCAN lead investigators, Drs. Marcus Goncalves and Tobias Janowitz, to dive deeper into some of the most common signs of cachexia that patients (or their loved ones) may see as well as the muti-factorial interplay of systemic insults that can determine the underlying causes of cachexia.

Part Three: “Hope Through Clinical Trials”

Advocacy panel member, Yvonne Diaz, talks with Drs. Richard Dunne and Bette Caan who are the leading CANCAN’s two clinical studies. They discuss the importance of clinical trials and how studies like LOTUS and UNCOVER can lead to better treatments for patients with cachexia.
