The Cancer Cachexia Society 8th Annual Cancer Cachexia Conference

Turin, Italy September 25-September 27, 2025

Our CANCAN team will be at the 8th Annual Cancer Cachexia Conference in Turin, Italy, from September 25 to 27, 2025. A large group from our CANCAN team will be attending and speaking at the event, including Drs. Mariam Jamal Hanjani, Giulia Biffi, Tobias Janowitz, Tony Coll, Bette Caan, and Marcus Goncalves. The European Association for Cancer Research (Virtual Event): Conference on The Systemic Consequences of Cancer; Cancer as a Whole-body Disease

Date: February 25-26,2025

Drs. Eileen White, Marcus Goncalves, Tobias Janowitz, and Karen Vousden have been selected to co-chair a session at the EACR virtual conference on the “Systemic Consequences of Cancer; Cancer as a Whole-body Disease,” February 25-26, 2025.  This two-day virtual event will focus on exploring the underlying mechanisms of tumors and how they affect the immune system by causing overwhelming inflammatory changes that affect the whole body. The session will feature selected talks, abstracts, and oral poster presentations on exclusive topics that include how cancer affects brain function and behavior and the causes of systemic metabolic reprogramming in the host. The abstract and poster session is open to trainees who wish to attend. 

If you are interested in submitting an abstract to be considered for an oral presentation or poster, the deadline is January 13, 2025, while the registration deadline is February 3, 2025 (please see links below). This is another opportunity for team CANCAN to showcase the impactful projects our team is working on for the cancer research community!

Steven Heymsfield and David Lewis have organized a team of CANCAN speakers that includes Drs. Eileen White, Justin Brown and Tony Hui who will present a seminar session on “Understanding Dysregulated Metabolic Homeostasis in Cancer Cachexia “. Trainees who are interested can attend, and if you would like to submit an abstract for the poster presentations, the deadline is July 31st. Please see the following links below for the conference, registration and to submit an abstract. 7th Cancer Cachexia Conference
